RAYMOND HARPER

Board of Directors

Board member Raymond Harper, a self-proclaimed country boy, grew up in East Texas. Raymond graduated high school in the small city of Troup, Texas. After graduation Raymond balanced college with a job working in the oil fields, or roughnecking, as it is called. He earned his degree in Petroleum in 1983. Unfortunately, that was not a good year to have a petroleum degree, so Raymond decided to join the Air Force. 

While in the Air Force, Raymond worked in Information Systems (1993 ISS Dyess AFB) and as a Computer Operator and Production Control Analyst until he received an honorable discharge as a SGT in 1988.

After his service in the Air Force, Raymond went to work for Texas Farm Bureau in Waco, Texas. He is still currently working there as an I.T. Supervisor. Raymond went back to school to earn a BBA in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating in 2010.

Raymond was introduced to Solutions For Veterans by Stan Parker, a friend in Waco. Mr. Parker does a lot of work to benefit Veterans and Raymond supports his endeavors. Raymond believes that Solutions for Veterans sounds like a great local, hands-on approach to help someone. He stated that, “people are so quick to help other causes, groups, etc… but I don’t think Veterans get the help they need. I was lucky to serve during ‘peace time.’ Others weren’t so lucky. Both of my grandfathers were in the military, and I have uncles and cousins who are Veterans as well.” 

Raymond observes that Veterans seem to be taken for granted today. It is his hope that through Solutions For Veterans he will be able to help make a difference in the lives of Veterans in his own home, city, state, and country.
